Donna WhitlockSadly, Donna Whitlock died unexpectedly in her sleep, peacefully and in no pain, of a heart attack on Monday 16th February 2009 aged 60. She was a prolific artist and musician, bouncy and full of life, her passing is much mourned by myself and all who knew her. As a gigging musician, Donna specialised in playing hand drums and an assortment of percussion instruments from around the world, including flower pots, waste pipes and even buckets of water. She also played drum kit regularly with the bands 'MoonDance' 'Wot Next', `Stencil' and 'EnQ' . A passion for playing Bodhran in an exciting contemporary style, incorporating jazz and rock rhythms, lead to her teaching both this and other hand drums and percussion in schools for groups and on a private basis . She was also an exponent of the Zendrum a unique midi controller. Pendas FenPenda's Fen plays the original songs of Richard Dwyer and is fronted by vocalist Sharie Neyland. Acoustic guitar, fiddle, electric guitar, bass, drums/percussion and the occasional mandolin combine to blend elements of rock, acoustic ballad, Celt and folk. Influenced both by nature and our contemporary experience the songs speak of love, life and the power of the human spirit. Click on the link to download (4 mb) a full length song - Earth Song |
